Base Associates is an architecture design studio based in the middle of the Vauxhall Pleasure Gardens, London.

The office has completed unique award winning projects of different scales across the globe. This has meant working with some amazing people and creating some lifelong friendships.

Creativity, commercialism and a pinch of comedy seems to mean we have always had repeat clients and new ones looking for something refreshing.

In the famous words of the 1984 hit soundtrack to the Ghostbusters song;

“If there’s something weird
(the tectonic dichotomy doesn’t juxtapose)

And it don’t look too good
(and a pastiche façade means a planning refusal)

Who you gonna call?”

Aseem Sheikh Bsc(Hons) BArch DipPS RIBA

― Founding Director

Aseem graduated from the Welsh school of Architecture in Cardiff and has over 20 years’ experience in the architecture and construction industry.

On 08.08.08 Aseem set up Base Associates, a niche architectural design studio that would specialise in identifying creative solutions to enhance the surrounding urban realm. Aseem chose Vauxhall as Base’s home as he saw the huge potential this part of London had which is now currently being realised as part of the Nine Elms Regeneration.

The majority of the work carried out by the practice in its first decade was within Lambeth and adjoining London boroughs. As a result Base Associates has excellent relationships with key public, private and community stakeholders which has helped bring to fruition innovative social and economic projects such as the regeneration of Vauxhall City Farm.

Aseem is the Chairman of Vauxhall One (Business Improvement District) which has delivered and commissioned numerous works to improve the urban realm through stakeholder partnership. He also sits on the Nine Elms Strategy Board, KOV Forum Board and St Johns Church amongst other CSR roles. He is often published for his works promoting urban beekeeping on London’s Mosques within the urban environment.
